Finding outdoor gear that genuinely delivers on its promises feels like striking gold in today's market. After sweating through a scorching 95-degree camping trip, I've discovered three game-changing products that have revolutionized my outdoor experiences.

The unsung hero of moisture control comes in the form of Snap Safe dehumidifier bags by Hornady. At just $9.99, these reusable silica packets have transformed how I store equipment and maintain my camping fridge. The breakthrough application? Placing them in portable refrigerators after trips prevents the dreaded science experiment of mold and odors. When they've absorbed their capacity (turning from blue to pink), simply bake them at 200 degrees for three hours, and they're rejuvenated. This simple solution eliminates a perennial camping headache without chemicals or extensive cleaning.

For sweltering conditions, the Claymore V600+ USB rechargeable fan ($50) stands unrivaled after years of testing. Despite numerous drops and rough handling, it continues to deliver powerful airflow when needed most. While initially seeming expensive for a camping fan, its durability has outlasted multiple cheaper alternatives, making it a worthwhile investment for comfortable sleeping in hot weather.

My decades-long search for the perfect headlamp finally ended with the Fenix HM50R v2.0 ($59). After trying dozens of models from leading brands, this rechargeable option solves every common headlamp frustration: comfortable wear without hair-pulling, intuitive controls, both white and red lighting options, impressive battery life, and conversion to a standalone flashlight when needed.

These products share one critical quality – they consistently perform their intended functions exceptionally well, something increasingly rare in outdoor equipment. As we transition from summer camping to fall adventures, consider how these simple solutions might transform your outdoor experience. What gear frustrations could be solved with the right equipment?

Speaker 1:

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to Outskirts Overland. It's Tuesday the 22nd, we're getting there pretty quick. Here it's going to be August and then school starts. I already bought my kids school supplies, school clothes, shopping. It's already here, man. Then for me starts the birthdays. It goes my daughter's birthday, my, my birthday, my other daughter's birthday and then my son's birthday. So it goes oldest, middle, youngest, and they're all within two weeks of each other. So that's just fun, right, we all have them. Everybody knows about that. If it's not a holiday, it's a birthday or something you know. But uh, yeah, so summer's like coming to an end. It's crazy to even think about it.

Speaker 1:

But uh, this weekend I went camping. It was 95 degrees hot, man, it is hot, humid. Here in the midwest it was just hot. Went to make a fire, actually ended up putting it out. It's just too hot, it's just too, it's too much, too much for me. I was not into it and uh, but still, a good time.

Speaker 1:

Got out, you know, could? I'm actually cooked, made some, made some awesome food. It was fun. It was fun Not anywhere near water. It could have been a lot better had I been somewhere near water. That would have made all the difference. Actually, I did see some people got out and they did get in the water. They had a much better time than I did. But you know it is what it is, can't be perfect all the time. This trip was far from perfect, but I didn't come back with any, you know, any damage to anything. Got to go camping, it was fine. I mean, that's really kind of the criteria that I'm making back. Is the truck broke? Am I broke? Are we good? You know, if all of those are, you know everything's good, then it was good.

Speaker 1:

So I do have the guys from Overland of America coming on tomorrow evening, so it'll be a Thursday's podcast. And same thing guys. They've been on a couple other podcasts already talking about the event. If you guys have any questions that aren't getting answered on those podcasts, if you haven't heard those podcasts, I've got questions that I'm going to ask just hit me up. Like I said, like I always am with you guys, if those of you that ask questions know how I address them, even myself, if you got anything you want to ask them, let let me know. I'll be more than happy to ask them and I'm sure they're more than happy to answer them. So we'll go from there. If you guys are thinking about getting tickets, that's, or getting tickets to overland of America, use outskirts 10, and it'll save you some money on your tickets. It doesn't cover cabins or RV parking or at cabins or RV camping, but it'll still get you a discount on your tickets. It doesn't cover cabins or RV parking or at cabins or RV camping, but it'll still get you a discount on your day pass.

Speaker 1:

Um, after that event, I'll be going to rendezvous in the Ozarks, which looks like it's quite revamped this year. I will, like I've said earlier on this podcast, I'm not going as a creator or as a podcast. I mean, I always am myself and I'll be there and probably have some sickers or whatnot. But uh, as of right now, not going as a, not going to teach any classes this year for those of you that have attended my classes there in the past, not teaching any classes this year I'm not going to be in doing anything. Content creator wise, I do know. Uh, benji and midwest out, midwest adventure outfitters will be there. Some might be over there a little bit. Um, really more just hang, you know, hanging out with benji, so we'll see what comes of it, but I will also be at rendezvous and then after that, I don't know, after that, I don't know there's other events that come, you know, later in the year and stuff that I'm not real familiar with. Maybe I get some trips with my friends, maybe not, I don't know. We are at least from from rendezvous, we are at least all getting together for that. So hopefully that's that. Hopefully, from that we get some more trips that come up, which will be awesome. Hopefully, from that we get some more trips that come up, so, which will be awesome.

Speaker 1:

So, as far as everything else goes, I've been I mean, it's been just it's kind of groundhog day. Uh, truck's pretty well good, you know, knock on wood, nothing's broke. I gotta, I got to, uh, I have to. You know, kind of do the the mid season empty, where I got to empty it out and uh, put it back together. You know, like, take everything out, vacuum it, wipe it down, put everything back on. Here um is so I uh, when it comes to like moisture and stuff in the truck or moisture in things, one thing that I do that um is maybe I mean, maybe it's a no brainer to me but Hornady and all kinds of other different, like ammo and gun companies make silica packets like big ones that you're supposed to put in not supposed to, but that you could put in gun safes to keep moisture out of gun safes and they're big.

Speaker 1:

The reason I bring these up is at least the ones that I've bought in the past is they've got a little indicator on them and it's blue, and when the indicator turns pink it's it's um, um, it's ineffective, but you could put these things in the oven and bake them and it like re, they like they'll like work again, like they're new, so they're like reusable silica. So I get I think mine are called stop safe or something like that and they're big, huge silica, like big ones like size of your hand, maybe even a little bigger silica pack, silica, I don't know packets, silica packets, I don't know what else bags, silica bags and, uh, I like to put those. I've started putting them.

Speaker 1:

I put them in, you know, drawers in the back of my truck, you know, just in case, cause it's right now it's not wet because of rain, but like I get sweaty, there's dew, there's stuff like that that gets on the inside. You know, I put wet shoes in the truck. Now there's, like you know, the truck sits in the sun. So I've got these silica, these big silica things, and I'll put them in a drawer. I'll put them in this, but the place that they've, I put them in my tent too to keep the moisture out of the tent if I gotta put it up, and it works really good if you gotta put stuff up wet, um. But the place where I've noticed that they are the, you know I bought two extra ones. I was like I'm gonna give this a go.

Speaker 1:

You know, I've been using silica packets to dry out drawers and the truck and the tent for a long time. Way early podcasts two years ago I was talking about. You know, buy a bunch of them, put, throw them all over the place. They're only going to help you, um. But I have got these big ones that are for gun safes and everybody that has a fridge or a cooler knows that once you've used it and it's gotten cool and you shut it off and it gets moisture in it. That's where all the bacteria and nastiness grows.

Speaker 1:

I have put these, these, you know, gun safe silica packets in my fridge after I'm done with it and, man, it dries that sucker out. That is like a cheat code. So I and I and I just put them in. I got it from academy sports guys, so like if you don't have an academy near you, they'll deliver to you. I don't know where else you can get these things, but I'm pretty sure mine are called stop safe or safe, stop, something like that. They're yellow and they're big silica packets. I think they're like 10 or 12 bucks a piece, big guys. But, like I said, you could turn your oven to 200 degrees and set them in there for three hours and they they dry out and then you can use them again just like they're new. So they're. They're really kind of worth the money and they work real well.

Speaker 1:

But again, does it keep my tent from getting moisture and mold and crap in it? Yes. Does it keep my deck drawers from getting a bunch of crap in it? Yes. Do I put them, you know, kind of behind my front seats in my truck? Yeah, do they work? Does it work great for all those things? Yes, as it should.

Speaker 1:

The thing that I use it for that it that it works real good for is I put them in the freaking fridge when I'm done with it and it dries out the inside of the fridge. And, guys, those of you that have fridges, that's worth a lot because you can clean your fridge out, you can do all this stuff. You could try and air it out. If you live in the midwest, the air is moist. There's no way to like dry it, dry it. So I'm always like man, what can I put in there? I've tried baking soda things. I've tried, like the moisture, the armenian moisture things.

Speaker 1:

And again, guys, while they work, these freaking safe things for the gun safes, they work. I mean it's, it's flawless. Like I did it and I was like I'll give it a shot. It's probably gonna like completely and totally use it up because there's a bunch of moisture in the fridge. That sucker's still blue, it's not pink yet I haven't had to read like heat them, like bake them, to recharge them or whatever. It just like works. And I was like man, the world needs to know. Like this is such a, this is such a off-label use. That is just great.

Speaker 1:

Which then just made me think, like you know, come winter and you've got all these boots and stuff, like I don't know, I'm going to be putting them Like I'll put my boot, my kid's shoes, like in a. You know, when you get in the house you'll put them in like little. I don't want to say a bucket, a bucket's not the right thing, but guess trough, you know, and I'm gonna throw a couple of these things in there. I'm gonna see I'm. These are now my new obsession of like what all? Can it really dry out? You know what I mean. Like can it? I don't know. It's like a. I mean they're dehumidifying silica, that's what they're for. I mean I get that.

Speaker 1:

I never in the world actually like when you get something. It's a weird thing. When you get something that's supposed to have a function and it actually does it well, it's like such a surprise nowadays. You know it's like oh, I bought this stuff. You know you could go buy tape, for instance, and you're like I hope it sticks and it's like it's tape, it's that's all it's supposed to do.

Speaker 1:

Such a weird time where you get something and you're like man, this thing does what it's supposed to actually, and then you're just like psyched out of your mind. But really, that's where I get on these side thought processes. I'm like, really, that's where I get on these side thought processes. I'm like, really, why isn't everything that way, like what in the? It's like a anyways. But how many people you know, if I was in a room full of you guys like raise a hand. How many of you guys buy something that's supposed to have a function and you're like kind of like it, only kind of does it, like it doesn't really work as advertised. You know, unless it's a ShamWow. But anyways, wait, there's more. That does everything, plus more than you thought it would, plus more than that, plus more than you thought it would, thought that thought it would ShamWow. You know, if I've dated myself talking about ShamWow and you don't know what that is, that was funny and you just don't know it. But like, seriously, like nothing, like it's such a, it's such a great time to be like I gotta tell the world that this thing is supposed to do. It does what it's supposed to do. You know what the what in the world? But no, they're great.

Speaker 1:

I use them quite a bit and I don't even I I used to save all the silica packets out of like jerky in my uh dehydrated meals and stuff and I would put those silica packets in like ziploc bags with other supplies that I had. You know, like like my thermosel, uh, waffles and stuff like that. I put them in there. Just that stuff didn't get moisture. I used to save. So I've been using silica packets in that capacity for I don't know 25 years and just putting them in other supplies to keep them dehydrated from stuff I opened. You know, if you guys open beef jerky, it's got them in them. If you open any type of like Mountain House or Peak Refuel meal, it's got them in them. I just pop them out of those and put them in other ziplocs, do my best there to keep stuff dry without spending any money on new ones.

Speaker 1:

But as times went on, I'm like man. I could really use these a lot of places and in this hobby, you know, sometimes stuff sits for a while, do sets on it like different, different life, different life happens where you need to dry stuff out, but like it's not wet, you know, like it's damn. So I was like man. I bet these things will work. So I started using them, you know, all over the place.

Speaker 1:

But the fridge man or I mean a cooler would work too in an enclosed space. It'll keep some stuff dry and they're big and they're awesome and I couldn't recommend them enough to you guys. So they're yellow, they're silica, they're called Safe, stop or Stop Safe or something like that. They're made by Hornady and I got them at Academy. They make other ones that are even bigger. I think I don't have the biggest ones, I have the yellow ones.

Speaker 1:

So if you guys go look, but if you're somebody that's opened your fridge after like a day of it sitting, you know, empty and off and like vomited all over your driveway, this is your solution. And if you're, you know if you've got a stronger gag reflex than that and you should have vomited on your driveway, this is your solution. And if you're, you know if you've got a stronger gag reflex than that and you should have vomited on your driveway, this is also still your solution. Because everybody that has a fridge knows if you don't, if you don't get it dried out and cleaned out pretty much I mean pretty much immediately from getting home and you close that sucker back up, you're opening up a science project. And I did it one time like truly, like truly one time. I've done that and since then I work real hard. I've got like the spick and span, like the bleach stuff and I like really try to keep stuff dried out the best, as best, I possibly can in the fridge and I it just for my own. You know, I don't ever want my little cooler fridge to be smelling like some type of food and that's what will happen. That's what will happen. So, anyways, these things are great. I went on about it for like 10 minutes now. So hopefully you guys realize like pretty into them. So that's one thing that I've thought was really good.

Speaker 1:

We're in the market for another fan and it is summer, so I'll talk about this and I'll tell a little bit of a story about it. But I have a claymore and and here we go, guys. This is me trying to be better for you guys. Like try, I'm trying to get you guys the actual names of stuff, because I'm just like I got this fan. It's tan, you know, it's a claymore b600 plus claymore v600 plus fan. It's a usb rechargeable fan. I have one, okay, I've had it for years.

Speaker 1:

At this point the other day I'm camping with my friend Corey and he's like you, you got, he's like you, ever seen one of these fans and I was like, dude, I have that fan. And then I happen to know my friend Chris also has that fan. So we're. We're in the market for another fan. Okay, we got one fan, we're wanting another fan to hang in the rooftop tent to kind of keep a flow of air going around. You know, the one works great. I mean, even if we camped at 95 degrees, I hang it up at the top. It keeps us cool. You know, if you're sweating and you got air flowing, you'll stay cool. So does that cure dehydration that you're going to inevitably have? No, but it'll keep you cooled off. So anyways, moral of the story here is I never talked to Corey or Chris about this fan. Me, corey and Chris all have this fan. These are my friends.

Speaker 1:

So I was like I'd be betting money and that's my girlfriend's like we should look and see if there's anything better. And I told her I was like I bought this fan like three years ago. I was like but I bet dollars to donuts that I like it's such a random thing to have that we all have this same exact fan. I was like I bet money. That's the best one. I was like I don't remember searching it, but I was like I bet that I did and I'll be telling you guys what Went online and looked. You know, best camp fan 2025, 2024, 2023, 2020. Every year it's this damn fan. So just my recommendation if you guys are in the market for a fan, v600 Plus by Claymore, that's the one.

Speaker 1:

Now, if you guys watch those videos, there is a very similar fan. Nightcore makes a very similar one. Nightcore is a light brand as well. The problem with the Nightcore is, in one of the tests I watched, they sprayed the fans like lightly with a hose to simulate rain and the Nightcore actually broke. So it didn't. It didn't. The fan didn't fan, no more. Well, that's a pretty significant issue for me. So, anyways, the Claymore is the one I have. They used to be like 80 bucks. They're like 50 now. Now, guys, $50 for a camp fan Atrocious, atrocious.

Speaker 1:

But what did I just get done? Telling you guys I've had this thing for three years and anybody that's ever been around me and if you've never been around me and you're coming to any of these events, just come look at my truck. Okay, I take care of stuff to make sure it works. But, dude, I am hard on stuff I don't treat. I don't treat things that I consider tools any different than a tool. Ok, like I'm not waxing my wrenches, you know what I mean. Like I use this stuff.

Speaker 1:

This fan has fallen from the top of my rooftop tent on the ground, broken apart. I snapped it all back together and that was two years ago. Okay, like it is expensive, but if you just think about it 50 bucks. You buy two that suck at 20 bucks or 15 bucks. I mean, you're there so just throwing that out there. So we're probably going to buy the exact same one. I don't have the one, the Claymore Fan, the V600 Plus. I sound like such a salesman, but I just wanna make sure I get you guys the right info because it's the only one to get. And again, guys, you know I'm not sponsored by anybody. I spent $70 on this fan when it was new, like it was a new product. It's now a couple few years old. Now, guys, I'll wreck they.

Speaker 1:

I don't recommend this one. They make one that's more money with a remote. You don't need the remote. Okay, you don't need the remote. Don't, don't waste your money on the remote one. We actually even just me and Corey actually even discussed that. Like, you need the one with the remote. No, like, no. In a camping situation, nothing's like a half mile away to where you need a remote, like stand up and press a button, it's right there. Like it's right there. Like needing a remote would be like needing a remote for your car radio, like it's ride free, it's what do you need? Like it's right there, you can reach it. So I wouldn't spend extra money on the one with the remote.

Speaker 1:

Claymore makes a lot of really high quality stuff, but the only thing I've added I have bought from Claymore that I've kept and had for years is his fan. So I just it's. It's that it's that time of year for fans and I felt like, because I'm looking for them and I did the research, you know again, and I don't remember three, four years ago when I bought this thing, I don't, but I have done the research again and it's still the best fan as it was. Then I was like, well, there we are, nobody's even beat it still. Um, which then?

Speaker 1:

Another thing I talk about headlamps all the time, guys, and I've been hesitant to talk about this because I hadn't tried them enough I probably, guys, I probably have 40 headlamps at home. I think headlamps are extremely crucial thing to have. I use them at home with the dog Go get the mail in the winter when it's dark, like headlamps are extremely crucial thing to have. I use them at home with the dog go get the mail in the winter when it's dark. Like headlamps are everywhere in my life. One thing that's consistent with all these headlamps is how much I like to use headlamps and how much I think all of them suck. So, and they do, they suck Big time. But I have a bajillion. Okay, I have Nebo, I have Nebo headlamps, I have Black Diamond, I have BioLite, I have Petzl, I have, you know, amazon knockoffs of this Olight, like tons.

Speaker 1:

So, finally, I actually randomly reached out to. So I saw somewhere on an older video and I don't remember whose it was Somebody was talking about Phoenix F-E-N-I-X Phoenix lights and headlamps and they were like this is the only headlamp to get blah, blah, blah. Like somebody, like an overland YouTube person that doesn't typically you know, oh, this is a great product thing. They said they had purchased them. So I was like, okay, I got it. You know, I've got a thousand dollars in headlamps trying to find the one I like and I've used them since I was in the military, like headlamp, something that is applicable to hunters, walkers, just headlamps trying to find the one I like and, uh, I've used them since I was in the military like headlamp something that is applicable to hunters, walkers just headlamp.

Speaker 1:

If you don't use headlamps, your your life's harder than it needs to be, but you should be. But one big thing for me is that they have a red light, cause I use a red light a lot, especially in the summer, because it keeps the bugs away from you. All the trucks on the interior all the trucks, all the lights on the interior of my truck they're also red. I don't have any white on the interior of my truck. There's a reason for that I don't want all the bugs, so red light's really important to me. So, having something that has a white and a red light.

Speaker 1:

I got these Phoenix headlamps and they're like a little flashlight that clips into it sideways so you can also take the flashlight out of the head strap and it swivels and stuff and guys, these things are great Like. I have never had a headlamp in my life that I actually liked and these Phoenix ones I do actually like. I mean, I actually do like them and I've spent billions of dollars. So if you guys are in the market for a headlamp, you can go online. I've bought all these. You know. Oh, we tested 65 headlamps and this was the best one. Well, I'm telling you, I bought all three of the top three from that thing and they suck, they all suck. But I bought these, uh, or I got these phoenix ones and I got two of them. So me and me and my girlfriend both use them and we both really like them. Like they're actually just really nice.

Speaker 1:

Um, they charge up. One thing that's cool about them is you could charge the headlamp with the battery in it, and it's. But the battery that goes in it also is USB rechargeable, so you can buy extra batteries to recharge too, if that makes sense. Like you can charge the battery in it from the outside, like you can charge it on the light, I guess, but you can also unscrew it and take that battery out and recharge that battery with the USB-C too. So that's kind of cool. Um, I only ever charged the lamp. I mean, I don't like, I'm not like cave diving with these things, you know. So that's, that's the only way I use it. Um, but no, they're great.

Speaker 1:

Amp, e-n-i-x, phoenix, and I don't remember what model mine are because they don't say it on it. I'll have to. I'll actually probably post this fan. I hate to be that guy, but, like I'll probably post links to them. And yeah, I don't have like any affiliate anything with these people At all, so I don't I'll have to. I'll have to decide who I want to gift the. Uh, gift the business to that sells these things. Uh, I don't want to do it on amazon though, so you won't see it from amazon. But just because I don't trust amazon guys, I don't trust amazon with like expensive stuff to give me the real thing, I don't trust that you're going to get actually what it says you're getting, yeah. So I'm always like I just don't trust. I don't want to give you guys an Amazon link that you use and then it's like a knockoff kind of, and you're like, why did this guy recommend this? Because I'm not sponsored. So I'm not like married to giving you guys the link to this specific reseller or this specific seller at all. I'm pretty sure I bought my fan from Claymore itself online. I mean, I don't even know that Overlanding was popular when I got this fan.

Speaker 1:

These headlamps, though, shoot boy, they're good, they're good, they're good, they're good. And I'm going to be transparent with you guys the headlamps are good. Okay, I have spent a butt-ton of money on headlamps. Okay, phoenix did send me these headlamps, but only because you know, and the reason that I think I can give a good review on it, having gotten them, is because I have spent so much money on other headlamps I I ha. I don't care if they're free or not, like they could have had they've been free and sucked. That would have been like par for the course. You know what I mean. Like, I have so many that suck. If these sucked guys, I would tell you they don't suck. I couldn't tell you what they cost, though, but I've bought headlamps for as much money as $110 and as little money as $20. And you know and I've never had one where I'm like to be completely honest I think they've all been worth 20. Like, I think they all actually suck.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of that, that's got me intrigued here, let me, I'm going to look right now, because I don't even know what model this thing is. I know they're not. They're not. It was by far the most, it was by far not most expensive um headlamp that they sell. Because, yeah, I'm looking at something like I just put in phoenix headlamp online right now and I'm looking 99 104, 79.

Speaker 1:

Okay, here we go. This, here's one for 34. That ain't what I got. Okay, what I have. What I got is the HM50R version 2.0 rechargeable. The HM50R version 2.0 rechargeable it's $59 is what this headlamp costs.

Speaker 1:

This is the one that I got. Dude, I don, I don't even know. Yeah, like it's 700 lumens, I guess. I mean, I don't know nothing about it. I just told them what I wanted, like this is what I'm looking for in a headlamp, whatever, whatever. And that's that's the one I got.

Speaker 1:

And again, one cool thing is that you can you can take the it's like a flashlight in a fixture thing and you can take it out and then clip the flashlight to other stuff. So it's like actually just a flashlight too, which I have used it as such it, yeah, I mean it's so, it's so good. Actually, like I was, just I didn't even know what all they sell and it's Phoenix, okay, one thing that's really nice about it, too, is on the inside, like why don't other headlamp companies think of this? But on the inside of, like the strap, it's like grippy stuff, so it's not like slipping on your hair or your hat or wherever you got it attached to you and it's thin, it doesn't have that freaking. I hate the ones that have like that mohawk strap. You know where they got that third strap or they got the big battery pack in the back, like guys. I've had so many freaking headlamps that I hate. Um, yeah, so anyways, this phoenix headlamp is and it's on sale. I guess it was 80 bucks, it's 59 now.

Speaker 1:

Phoenix hm50rv 2.0, version 2.0, rechargeable, and it's. It says it's their best compact guys, I don't. That's. That's actually as far as headlamps are concerned. That's not crazy. Um, so, yeah, that's cool and uh, yeah, I think that thing is great. I haven't left a review on there. I didn't even have to give them a review. Uh, I like it. It works really well.

Speaker 1:

I am like it's not very often that I'm like, oh, I lost the headlamp. Shucks, you know like I don't care because it sucks. I'm like, oh, I've lost the headlamp. Shucks, you know, like I don't care because it sucks. I'm like keep a pretty close eye on this one. So I'm like, man, I like this one a lot and I get nervous too, like what happens if I have it for like two years and then this company quits making them. That would be rough. But anyways, that headlamp's something I need to talk about because it's freaking good.

Speaker 1:

It again just just like those those freaking silica things like the headlamp just does what it's supposed to do. It works well, it's adjustable, it's light. The dumbest stuff, like is why it's good Kind of like grippy stuff on the inside of the headband, it doesn't weigh a lot on your head. It's easy to adjust. The button is. The button isn't like so sensitive. Like to turn it on, you got to kind of hold it just a little second to turn it off. You gotta hold a little second. Like every time you just tap this stupid thing. It's not changing 16 levels on you or changing to flashing or chain. You know like if you guys use headlamps maybe I'm the guy that's like more frustrated with this than anybody else in the world, but like this one works well, like it should work.

Speaker 1:

The battery life apparently seemed nearly as long. I've not even charged mine and I've had it for two months now. So in two months it's been on six camping trips. I've not recharged mine. I have recharged my girlfriend's though. Um, so she might just be using at a higher level whatever, but I still haven't recharged mine girlfriend's though, so she might just be using it at a higher level, whatever. But I still haven't recharged mine. I used it this weekend, still works fine, like it's still. It's not dead yet.

Speaker 1:

And I and I guys, I actually don't know if I even I don't know if I recharged it or I don't know if I charged them up when I got them either, so it might not even been full then I couldn't even tell you. I'm just a regular guy, like let's just use this headlamp. But I sent them like I was literally like hey guys, I got this podcast, I'd like to try out a headlamp. And they were like blah, blah, blah. And the second email I just sent them a picture of like my whole entire living room full of headlamps and I was like I've never tried one of yours, but every one of these sucks. That's what I said. And then and then then the tone changed quite a bit. So like it's not, like I'm a guy, that's like I want to try your headlamp because all these people said they're good and I want to exploit you. It was like, for the love of God, if you make something worth buying before I go bankrupt on headlamps, let me try one of your headlamps and so they're actually good. They're actually good. I have been given other headlamps in the past from companies claiming their stuff is the best stuff, and you guys never even heard of them. I never even spoke about them. I mean, I just did speak about brands that have semi-headlamps that I said suck, but I've never spoken about them before today or in any good way.

Speaker 1:

Headlamps are something you need. Um, even crappy ones are beneficial, so, but at 59 bucks, I think this one's pretty good. Um, not good. It's the best one I've ever had. Does it mean it's the best one that's ever been made? No, I mean, it's not even close to one of their like, I'm looking at their headlamps right now. Dude, you can get $89, $219. Like, I don't know, man, that one better. Like that one better talk to the space station $104. Like, maybe I even got the cheapest one they make. I don't even know. It's good, though it's really good. I would not get anything different. Um, I, it's perfect. You know, I don't want anything super heavy. I like it a lot.

Speaker 1:

Hm 50r v2.0 um and it's right here on you. You search Phoenix Headlamp. It's like a couple to the side and Phoenix is F-E-N-I-X. It's a couple down the road here when you look at it and it's on their website. So actually I'll probably just link it to their website.

Speaker 1:

I mean, and again, guys, I'm sorry, I don't have like a code or anything, I don't like doing that. So you know, if their stuff's good, I'll recommend it. And again, guys, I'm sorry, I don't have like a code or anything, I don't like doing that. So you know if, if their stuff's good, I'll recommend it, and if it's, I don't want to have a code and have an obligation, you know. So am I able to save you guys money on this thing? I recommend no. But if I sold myself out to to to like kind of have to tell you guys something's good because I haven't attached this code and no, I'm not doing that.

Speaker 1:

So I'm not attached to this lamp at all, other than I have one, two. I have two and the two people I go with, myself and my girlfriend we think they're freaking great, real good. We like them a lot. And uh, she has. Obviously she's a girl with long hair. It doesn't seem to pull on her hair or anything either. So if you're female, the grippy stuff isn't like jerking on her hair and stuff, so two random things I'm bringing up today. I mean, I needed to talk about this headlamp. I wasn't going to talk about it today. I don't even know. I didn't even have a plan on when to talk about it. To be honest with you guys, I do like it, though, so it was a good time.

Speaker 1:

While I was talking about those silica packets, let me look those up real quick while I'm here too. Safe stop, I think, is what they're called. Let's see if I'm right. Nope, that takes you to some school bus something. Oh boy, let me see, Is this it? No, that's stop box. Oh man, guys, I might have been telling you the wrong name all along. Hey-oh, here we go.

Speaker 1:

There's a red hornady one at cabela's. That's not what I have, though. Um, mine are yellow. Well, there's a rechargeable one too. I'm 10 out of 10. Don't recommend. Mine are like, not fancy ones. They're, I mean, they get they work. These are hornady ones, are 17, but they're also not what I have.

Speaker 1:

Let me find it here. Hot electronic ones. I don't think I'd want that for camping guys. Nope, man, there's a market for these guys. I tell you what I better give you the right one that I'm. I don't think I'd want that for camping guys. Nope, man, there's a market for these guys. I tell you what. I better give you the right one that I'm using that works, because there's 65. I don't know. Okay, here we go. These are all hornady ones, dude. What the heck? I'm not even finding the one I and guys, it's still for sale. I just freak. I just got a new one, snap safe. I'm gonna blow you guys away.

Speaker 1:

Yellow by Hornady, snapsafe. Snapsafe dehumidifier bag $9.99. That's why I got those, because the other one's red and what's it called? It's just a Hornady dehumidifier bag. It's $14.99. Come on, now, that's a 50% price increase. I ain't doing that $9.99. Come on, now, that's a 50% price increase. I ain't doing that $9.99.

Speaker 1:

Hornady, snapsafe. Snapsafe dehumidifier bag. I mean, buy one and try it. You'll be like damn, that thing works. Like I mean, put it in your laundry room to test it. I mean put it anywhere, it works, dude, like it actually works. And you can put it in the oven and like re-make it good again. Pretty sweet little deal. I don't see them anywhere else but Academy. So holy F dude. So yeah, buy it at Academy because it's $9.99. On Amazon it's almost $18. Don't do that. There's some reviews on here. There's like 11 reviews. I'm giving you all 75,000 reviews.

Speaker 1:

This thing works. I mean, like I have been dealing with moisture in places for like a long time where I put these in and it's not there anymore. So, like the only thing that changed the weather didn't change, the piece of equipment didn't change. The only thing that changed is I put that thing in there and the fridge for sure I know it worked in, because that would just turn into mold and crap and it's not so that's freaking sick. So two things, guys, that I think are the, you know, the bee's knees that I would highly recommend looking at is that well, is the snap safe? That Claymore fan and that headlamp.

Speaker 1:

I haven't been the gear guy in a real long time and again, I have nothing with Claymore. I just remember being like I need to remember what this fan's called, because I'm going to talk about it on the podcast those dehumidifier bags I've been meaning to talk about. I've talked about silica packets before and silica bags before, but that one's actually works really well, seems to have some longevity before you even have to do anything with it, and then the fact that you can just put it in the oven to like dry it out and make it work. You know, as good as new. Again, that's also super cool. Um, that's so cool. So I have three of them and, uh, I just rotate them where I need them. So, and I still haven't even had to redo one yet. I just know from looking at it. I was like holy moly, you could just put this in the oven and it's good again. That's awesome. So I snap safe.

Speaker 1:

And then the headlamp, which is the hmr 50 or some whatever it is, I don't know. I said like 65 times, write it down. And uh, all those things are really good and of them all, I think the I don't know headlamp or the fan is most expensive. But either way, the fan I got a lot of time with. I can tell you the fan will last you. The headlamp I don't have. I have a couple months with it, but it is very, very, very clearly a cut above the rest as far as headlamps are concerned, and so I would highly recommend looking at that. If you're somebody that's like real hardcore, like pet, solar, black diamond, like well, this person this, and that will just understand that person, like I don't know why I am so particular about headlamps, but I am, and this one's like better, it's like so good. So just a thought for you guys.

Speaker 1:
